About

Welcome to our site. Roylcrest Beagles is owned by Sam and Lorna Boydston.
We are strictly a hobby not a business venture.  We are located 23 miles north of Spokane Wa.  We have been breeding and showing beagles since 1993.  Roylcrest was originally started in 1973 when Lorna was raising and showing Great Danes.  When she met and married Sam in 1993, they started raising beagles.

Lorna grew up on a farm in Colbert. Her parents raised German Shepherds.  This is where Lorna learned how to raise and train dogs.  Her parents imported GSD from Germany.   They raised them for police work around the country as well as for family protection and companionship.   This is where Lorna became passionate about dogs. Over the years Lorna learned about how to train dogs,  showed them and bred them. She went to college to earn a degree in veterinary technology.  And in later years continued her education receiving certification in Canine Massage, Canine Hydrotherapy, and Canine Fitness and Conditioning.

Sam moved to the Northwest from Texas in 1980.   He is a Structural Engineer , owns his own engineering firm and works from home.   Sam has 3 adult boys, also living in Spokane.  Sam adopted Lorna's daughter and she lives in the Shelton Wa. area. Sam and Lorna have 7 grandkids.

In 1993, Sam and Lorna bought their first beagles from Jean Applegate of Applegate Beagles, in Oregon to show and later breed.  Molly was the first and 6 months later they added Bo.  It was love at first sight when they met their first beagle.

Since 1993, it has been adventure and love affair with the beagle breed.  The Boydstons have raised, shown and bred beagles. The puppies are raised in the home with lots of hands on and socializing.  They believe the puppies for companionship can be molded into great family dogs with lots of TLC and know-how and they start from the first day of birth.  They only use positive reinforcement training and lots of love to make great family dogs.  They also believe that breeding should follow the breed standard set by the National Beagle Club of America, to improve the breed, pre-screen for genetic defects, and produce beagle puppies that are sound in body and mind.  The Boydstons do not breed often and screen and educate all potential new puppy owners with a commitment to provide life time support . They provide written health guarantees for all puppies that they sell
